When my tenant pays, whose account does the money enter?
3 min readUpdated 25 Aug 2026For managers, owners and renters
Short answer
Yours. Paystack moves it to the account you nominated, and Jarakey never holds it, never sits on it overnight, and never has a reason to. We are the screen the receipt appears on, not a place your rent stops.
Who are you?
This one reads the same whoever you are
The longer version
This is the question every chairman asks in the first ten minutes, and it deserves a plain answer rather than a paragraph about security.
What stays the same
- Your estate bank account stays your estate bank account.
- Whoever authorises a withdrawal today still authorises it. The chairman’s signature is still the chairman’s signature.
- Your bank is still your bank. We do not replace it and we do not sit in front of it.
What changes
Only the paperwork. Every payment arrives already attached to a flat, a month, and a reason, so the reconciliation that used to be 47 transfers and a notebook is a screen you read. That is the whole change, and it is the part that takes the arguments out of the AGM.
Money paid in cash
Plenty of estates still take cash and always will. Record it against the bill and it joins the same record as everything else, so your rent roll is complete rather than mostly complete.
Rent for one flat and the service charge for the whole block can go to different accounts. You decide that once per unit, and it holds every month afterwards without you thinking about it.
- Can Jarakey move my money?
- No. We do not hold a balance of your rent, so there is nothing for us to move.
- What if Jarakey disappears tomorrow?
- Your bank account and its balance are unaffected, because your money was never with us. You would lose the record and the app, not the money.
