How safe is my information?
3 min readUpdated 25 Aug 2026For renters, owners, managers, estate staff and gate teams
Short answer
Your rent never enters an account of ours, your documents are yours, and everybody in the property sees only the slice their job needs. The guard checking a code at your gate cannot see a single thing about your money.
Who are you?
This one reads the same whoever you are
The longer version
Who sees what
| You | Your flat, your bills, your documents, your codes. |
|---|---|
| Your manager | The property, its units, what is owed on them, and the repairs. Not your own document vault. |
| Estate staff | The part their job needs. A facility officer sees repairs and units, not collections. |
| The guard at the gate | Whether to open the gate, and what the visit is for. Nothing about your money, your rent, or your household. |
| Us | We run the system. We do not hold your rent, so there is no balance of yours here to lose. |
The parts you control
- Your password. Nobody at Jarakey can read it, and nobody at Jarakey will ever ask you for it.
- The six-digit code we email you at sign-up. It is a gate on your own account, not a marketing list.
- Your document vault. What you upload is not on your manager’s screen.
- Your account. You can close it, and closing it means closing it.
A link to one of your documents stops working shortly after you open it, on purpose. If you need to send somebody the document, send the file rather than the link, because a link you forwarded last month should not still open your lease.
Two habits worth having
- Treat a long visitor code like a key, because it opens your gate until it expires. A month-long code in a group chat is a month of access for everybody in that chat.
- Nobody from Jarakey will ever call you asking for a code, a password, or a card number. If somebody does, they are not us.
