Getting set up

My property uses Jarakey. How do I join it?

Short answer

Click the invitation your manager emailed you and you arrive already attached to your flat, with your unit and your bills waiting. If no invitation came, search for the property from your space and send a request for the manager to approve.

The longer version

The easy way: the invitation

  1. 1Open the email from your manager and click the link.
  2. 2Set a password if you have never signed up before.Already have an account? Use the same email the invitation went to and it attaches to the account you already have.
  3. 3You land in your space with your flat, your lease and your bills already in place. Nobody asks you for the address.

The invitation only works for the email address it was sent to. If your manager typed the wrong one, ask them to send it again rather than forwarding it, because a forwarded invitation attaches the wrong person to your flat.

The other way: ask to join

  1. 1From your space, search for the property by name.
  2. 2Send the request, saying which unit you are in.
  3. 3Wait for the manager to approve it.You will get a notification either way. Until it is approved you are signed in but not attached to anything, which is normal.

I rent here

One more thing worth knowing: your bills follow your flat, not your name. Move to a different unit in the same estate and your manager moves you across, so your old rent history does not follow you into the new flat.

My manager does not use Jarakey. Can I still use it?
You can sign up and get in, but there is no property for you to join yet, so there is not much to see. Send your manager or your chairman our way, and the day they add the property your request has somewhere to land.
Can I belong to two properties?
Yes. People who rent one place and own another are common. Each property is separate, with its own bills and its own gate.
